A Second Bilingual Workbook: Hansel and Gretel & Stick to the Swan! (Supervision in Dutch)

We are delighted to announce the release of our second workbook“I read in Dutch”, specially created for children who are taking their first steps in learning Dutch with Dutch supervision. This workbook is part of our expanding educational series “Favourite fairy tales” and combines the richness of classic fairy tales with an effective and child-friendly language-learning method. In this book, young learners will explore two well-loved fairy tales by the Brothers Grimm that spark imagination while supporting language development.

The first story, “Hansel and Gretel“, is the famous fairy tale about a brother and sister who must rely on courage, cleverness, and teamwork to find their way home. This exciting story teaches children about resilience, problem-solving, and the power of family bonds.

The second fairy tale, “Stick to the Swan!” follows a kind-hearted young man whose good deeds lead to unexpected rewards, as more and more characters become magically “stuck” together. This playful story highlights the value of kindness and generosity.

What makes this workbook especially effective is its bilingual learning approach. Each fairy tale is presented in Dutch with a Ukrainian translation on the facing page. This parallel-text format allows children to read in Dutch with confidence, without the need to constantly consult a dictionary. Vocabulary and expressions are learned naturally in context, making them easier to understand, remember, and apply in daily communication.

Beyond reading, the workbook includes extensive writing practice and a wide range of exercises designed to reinforce newly acquired vocabulary and grammatical structures. This approach enables parents to actively support their children’s learning process, even if Dutch is new to them as well.

By completing this workbook, children will significantly expand their Dutch vocabulary and improve their understanding of verb forms and sentence structures — all while enjoying the timeless magic of fairy tales.
